Website design for small businesses

Short answer

Garnet Web Works designs and builds custom websites for small businesses: hand-coded, mobile-first, fast, and set up for Google from day one. Every site ships with local SEO, structured data, analytics, a lead form that emails you, and a GarnetRX login so you can watch how it ranks.

Most small-business websites look fine and do nothing. They're slow on a phone, Google can't tell what town they serve, and the contact form goes to an inbox nobody checks. We build the other kind: a site with one job, which is to get found and get you the call.

What's included

Mobile-first and fast

Most of your visitors are on a phone. We design for the phone first and keep pages light so they load quickly on a rural cell signal, not just office Wi-Fi.

Built for search from day one

Clean page titles, one clear topic per page, internal links, an XML sitemap and schema.org structured data are part of the build, not an add-on.

Pages for every service and town

A separate page for each thing you do and each area you serve gives Google something specific to rank, instead of one page that says everything vaguely.

Leads that reach you

Forms send straight to your email (and land in your GarnetRX dashboard), with spam protection that doesn't make customers solve puzzles.

You own it

Your domain stays in your name. If you ever leave, you get your content and files.

No page-builder bloat

We don't stack plugins on a template. A lean, hand-built site is faster, more secure, and cheaper to keep running.

How it works

  1. Discovery callWhat you sell, where, to whom, and what a good lead looks like.
  2. Keyword and page planThe searches worth winning in your area, mapped to the pages that will win them.
  3. Design and buildYou review a working site on a private link, not a static mock-up.
  4. LaunchDomain, SSL, Search Console, sitemap, analytics and redirects from any old site.
  5. TrackYour GarnetRX login shows rankings and search traffic from launch day on.

Website design questions

How long does it take to build a small business website?

A typical small-business site (home, services, area pages, about, contact) takes about two to four weeks from the discovery call to launch. The biggest variable is how quickly photos, logos and approvals come back.

Do I need a new website or can you fix my current one?

If your current site is on a platform you control and loads reasonably fast, we can often fix the SEO and content in place. If it's slow, locked into a builder, or missing most of the pages you need, a rebuild is usually cheaper than patching.

Will my website work on phones?

Yes. Every site is designed for the phone first, then scaled up to desktop, and tested on small screens before launch.

Can I update the website myself?

You can send text, photos and videos through your GarnetRX dashboard and we'll put them on the site for you, so nothing breaks and the SEO stays intact.

Do you build online stores?

We build sites with simple ordering, booking and payment links for local businesses. For large product catalogues we'll tell you honestly whether a dedicated store platform is the better fit.

Find out what's holding your website back.

Send us your website (or tell us you don't have one yet). We'll check how it ranks, how fast it is and what Google and AI assistants see, then send back a plain-English plan and a fixed quote.
